Vidarbha U-19 cricket team emulated the impressive show of their senior side to clinch their maiden Cooch Behar Trophy on Wednesday.

After claiming their maiden Ranji Trophy title earlier this season, Vidarbha's U-19 team stood tall and defeated Madhya Pradesh on the basis of first innings lead in the final held at Nagpur.

Captain and opener Atharva Taide led from the front as he struck 320 (483b, 34x4, 1x6) to power Vidarbha to a massive 614 in reply to Madhya Pradesh's first inning total of 289 all out.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh scored 289 in their first innings.

With a mammoth 325-run lead, Vidarbha ensured they did not bat again and reduced the Madhya Pradesh side to 176 for 7 in their second innings.

Vidarbha's Darshan Nalkande took four wickets in the first innings while PR Rekhade took three in the second innings.

Vidarbha had finished second in the league stage with three wins and as many draws. They beat Karnataka by nine wickets in the quarter-finals before pipping Punjab on first innings lead in the semifinals.

JANUARY 1: MAIDEN RANJI TROPHY TITLE

Vidarbha celebrated the new year in style by winning the Ranji Trophy final by 9 wickets to lift their maiden title at the Holkar stadium in Indore.

Off-spinner Akshay Wakhare picked up four wickets while Aditya Sarwate got three as Delhi got bowled out for 280 runs with a lead of 28 runs which forced Vidarbha to bat for the second time on Day 4.

Captain Faiz Fazal got out leg-before in the first over from Kulwant Khejroliya but then Sanjay Ramaswamy and Wasim Jaffer knocked off the runs in just 5 overs to trigger the celebrations in the Vidarbha dressing room. Jaffer scored the winning runs as he smashed a boundary off Khejroliya in the final ball of the fifth over.

This was Jaffer's 9th Ranji Trophy final and he's ended up on the winning side every time.
