Family and friends have paid poignant tributes to murder victim Anthony Condron - killed in a Liverpool city centre bar at the the weekend.

He was enjoying a Friday night out with his girlfriend at Maya Nightclub in Wood Street when he was attacked.

Among those paying tribute was Anthony’s brother Dean Condron who said: “My brother Ant , I am glad you are my brother and an uncle to my two kids , you know you will never be forgotten and I will make sure my Lily-Rose and Pixie know what a top man, brother, uncle and friend you were. Xxx”

And Ashleigh, the cousin of Anthony, said: “Our Anthony was and always will be, one of the most incredible gentleman you would ever get to meet. Inseparable we were Ant, brother and sister we would say!

“Those cowards have taken the heart of our family and we will be forever empty because of this.”

Today three men appeared in custody at Liverpool magistrates’ court charged with Mr Condron’s murder.

They were: Jamie Addison, 22, of Bridgewater Street, Liverpool city centre; Joseph Booth, 24, of Ashbourne Road, Aigburth; and Paul Byrne, 23, of Ribbledale Road, Mossley Hill.

The three men, wearing regulation grey prison tracksuits, spoke only to confirm their names, ages, and addresses.

The public gallery of the courtroom was filled with members of Mr Condron’s family, some of whom cried during the brief hearing.

Simon Duncan, prosecuting, said no application for bail was being made.

The three were remanded in custody with a trial date fixed for July 23. Before then, a plea and trial preparation hearing will take place on March 5.

Dog owner convicted

A St Helens dog owner has been convicted under dog microchipping legislation.

Bernadette Hamilton, 52, of Princess Avenue, Windlehurst , St Helens, was ordered to pay a total of £1014.05 after being found guilty in her absence at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates’ Court of failing to have her Jack Russell Terrier type-dog microchipped, as prescribed by the Microchipping of Dogs (England) Regulations 2015.

The court heard how in July last year, Hamilton’s dog was reported to St Helens Council’s Dog Welfare and Enforcement Service after a council employee found it straying and causing a nuisance to traffic in Princess Avenue.

This was the second complaint received within the space of four days.

A Dog Welfare and Enforcement Officer attended the scene, and on observing the dog causing a nuisance, served Hamilton with a notice under section 12 (a) of the Microchipping of Dogs (England) Regulations 2015, requiring her to have her dog microchipped within 21 days.

Hamilton failed to comply despite being served with a final opportunity to comply notice, which effectively gives a dog owner an extra seven days to meet the requirements of the legislation.

Hamilton was also reported for an offence under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, for allowing her dog to be in a highway or in a place of public resort not wearing a collar with the name and address of the owner inscribed on the collar, or on a plate or badge attached to it.

On Friday 2 February 2018 at the Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates’ Court, Hamilton was fined £200 for each offence, with costs of £584.05 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30.

Welcoming the prosecution, St Helens Council Council’s Cabinet Member for Green, Smart and Sustainable Borough, Councillor Terry Shields, said: “Laws surrounding the ownership of dogs have been set for a reason and we will ensure that they are enforced.

“If a dog is found unregistered to the address at which they live – or is aloud to roam unattended, becoming a public nuisance in the process, then an offence has been committed and the owner will be liable for a hefty fine.”
