UP board exams: Mass cheating attempt made at Hathras centres
AGRA: Notwithstanding the claims of the UP Education department to ”zero tolerance” to copying in the ongoing board examinations, suspected cheating mafias or relatives of students attempted to pass cheat slips by scaling walls of Karan Singh and Kursanda Inter College in Hathras with impunity on Wednesday.
A video of people scaling the walls of the two inter colleges, with chits in their hands, has gone viral on social media and has blown the lid off the tall claims of the UP Education Department, which has been often criticized for mass cheating in its exams.
The video has also forced the education department to initiate action and officials said that notices have been issued to the two colleges and the local police has been instructed to “identify” the people in the video.
Talking to TOI, District Inspector of School (DIOS), Hathras, Sunil Kumar admitted that such “lapses” could have occurred as adequate number of police personnel are not available. He claimed that though these attempts of cheating were made, the suspects did not succeed as they were unsuccessful to pass on the chits. He said the district administration has been requested to provide more police force.

Centre in-charge of Kursanda Inter College, Ramesh Chandra Gautam said that his centre is “hyper sensitive” but still only one police personnel has been deputed there. He said that a CCTV camera was installed on the outside wall of the centre too but it was disrupted for some time but now it is working.
DIOS, Kumar said that out of total 33,739 students, 8007 were absent today and this was due to restriction on cheating and CCTV cameras inside the college campus.
Meanwhile, six Munnabhais (impersonators) were caught on the second day of the UP Board highschool examination in Mathura on Wednesday. A FIR was registered against them and they were handed over to police. Besides, four students were expelled after being caught cheating during the exam.
