AGRA: A Week after Saleem Javed, the main accused named in the FIR of Chandan Gupta’s death was arrested, Kasganj police on Wednesday night claimed of arresting his two brothers who also are accused in the case.
Identified as Wasim Javed and Naeem Javed, the two were booked after FIR lodged by Chandan’s father Sushil Gupta under IPC sections 124A (Sedition), 147 (Punishment for rioting), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others), 04 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation).

In a press statement, police claimed of recovering two country-made pistols along with two cartridges from the duo on Wednesday. But it’s important to note that when Saleem Javed was arrested on January 31, police had claimed to have recovered a 12-bore double barrel licenced shotgun and a .315 calibre country-made pistol from his house.
On January 26 night, Sushil Gupta filed FIR against 20 men along with scores of other unknown persons.
Following the FIR, the police arrested Saleem Javed on January 31, then Rahat on February 3 and Salman on February 6.
In the FIR lodged at Kotwali police station, Sushil said, "Over 20 men including Saleem stopped the youths participating in Tiranga Yatra, snatched their flag and threw it on the ground, asking them to shout Pakistan Zindabad. But when my son protested, the attackers pelted them with stones. Saleem aimed and fired at Chandan, injuring him. He was later declared dead at the hospital.”

However, speaking to TOI on January 31 Sushil Gupta said, "After my son was declared dead at the district hospital, I was told by a group of youths participating in the Tiranga Yatra that Saleem, Wasim, Naseem and 20 other Muslim men fired shots and killed my son."
Sultan Hassan, a friend of Saleem’s family said, “Wasim was not even in the district at the time of the incident. The entire case against the three brothers is fake."
Meanwhile, Kasganj police has claimed of arresting 55 men out 67 named accused in 18 FIRs filed in Kasganj, Ganjdundwara and Amapur during clash post-Janauary 26 incident.
