Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his allegations of rampant corruption in Karnataka, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday urged Mr. Modi to come clean on the alleged multi-fold increase in the business fortunes of BJP national president Amit Shah’s son, Jay Shah.

He even alleged that the BJP had a scheme that helped multiply business turnover.

“If you want to talk about corruption, talk a bit about Mr. Amit Shah’s son’s corruption. How he [Jay Shah] made ₹80 crore from ₹50,000 in three months,” Mr. Rahul Gandhi said, on the third day of the Janaashirwada rally in Hyderabad -Karnataka. “Modiji, if you have time after talking about the past, look to your left and right on the stage. On one side is former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, who has been to jail, and on the other side there are four former Ministers, who went to jail on corruption charges.”

Mr. Rahul Gandhi hailed the Siddaramaiah government, saying it was scam-free, unlike the previous BJP regime.

He moved on to unemployment, saying, “The biggest problem the country is facing is getting jobs for the youth. Many people voted for Modi believing he would provide jobs. But the Union government provides 450 jobs daily in the whole country against 50,000 jobs provided by China daily,” he said.

‘Tribals neglected’

Addressing a rally of tribals at Deodurg in Raichur district, Mr. Rahul Gandhi accused the Modi government of neglecting tribals, Dalits, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes.

“The Centre has been working for corporate leaders. While the Karnataka government had allocated ₹27,000 crore for the welfare of Dalits and tribals, the Modi government allocated only ₹55,000 crore for the entire nation in a year,” he claimed. He also accused the BJP government in Gujarat of acquiring land from tribals for industrial projects at negligible prices.
