Gujarat civic election results: BJP wins in 45 Nagarpalikas, Congress in 14

Elections were held in 75 municipalities spread across 28 districts of the state on February 17.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today won in 45 Nagarpalikas (municipalities) out of 75 municipal councils where elections were held last week. The Congress, on the other hand, managed to win in just 14 Nagarpalikas.

Elections were held in 75 municipalities spread across 28 districts of the state on February 17. The ruling BJP and Congress were locked in a direct fight in this polls.

As per the state election commission, Dahod municipality registered the highest turnout of 76.67 percent while Rajkot recorded 50.17 percent turnout.

The results were declared for 72 out of 75 Nagarpalikas (municipalities), two district panchayats, 17 talukas and 1400 village panchayats.

In 2013 polls, the BJP had won 60 seats while the Congress had managed to bag just 13 seats. The remaining 2 seats were won by independent candidates.
