PORTLAND, Ore. – Two Portland bridges, the Broadway Bridge and the Morrison Bridge, are closing over the weekend for construction.

Multnomah County officials say the Broadway Bridge will close Saturday from 7 p.m. until as late as 7 a.m. Sunday while a contractor completes work related to the Rall Wheel Replacement Project.

The drawbridge will be up during most of the work.

Officials recommend bicyclists and pedestrians use the Steel Bridge. Drivers can use the Steel or Fremont bridges.

TriMet’s 17 Broadway/Holgate bus route will detour to the steel Bridge.

The Morrison Bridge will close Sunday from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. for annual maintenance work, including washing, drain cleaning and tests of the lift span.

The work requires the drawbridge to be open most of the day.

Bicyclists and pedestrians should use alternate routes such as the Hawthorne and Burnside bridges. Those bridges will serve as alternatives for drivers as well.

TriMet’s 15 Belmont/NW23rd bus route will detour to the Hawthorne Bridge during the closure.

Ramps between the bridge and Interstate 5 and Interstate 84 will be closed Sunday, except for the ramp from the Morrison Bridge westbound to I-5 north.

While the I-5 southbound City Center/Morrison Bridge off-ramp is closed, the I-5 southbound ramp to Highway 99E/U.S. 26 will remain open.

Motorist can access I-84 eastbound at Northeast Grand Avenue and Northeast Everett Street.

To access downtown Portland from the freeways during the closure, I-5 southbound drivers can exit at the Rose Quarter/Broadway Bridge and I-84 westbound driver can exit at Rose Quarter/Weidler exits.
