Sackfuls of explosives seized in Birbhum

Birbhum police on Tuesday recovered a huge cache of explosives from an abandoned house at Talbandh village in the Mohammadbazar police station area.A Rampurhat resident, Mithun Seikh, was arrested.

SURI: Birbhum police on Tuesday recovered a huge cache of explosives from an abandoned house at Talbandh village in the Mohammadbazar police station area. A Rampurhat resident, Mithun Seikh, was arrested.
According to police, 18,000 pieces of detonator, 8,000 gelatin sticks and around 100 kg ammonium nitrate were stocked in the house close to the Jharkhand border. The cops said it was Mithun who had kept the explosives there.
Birbhum SP N Sudheerkumar said: "We are trying to find out from where the explosives had been brought in and why."
