Kerala police recovers stolen gold from Katihar, one held

PATNA: A team of Kerala police on Sunday arrested Vikram Kumar, an accused in the robbery of a jewellery shop in Kerala, from Katihar town and recovered at least one kilogram of gold ornaments.
Police sources said that gold ornament weighing at least 15 kilograms and Rs 6 lakh were stolen from Edassery jewellery shop located near Chalakudy railway station in Thrissur. The thieves had used a gas cutter to open the locks of the shop and enter inside it.
The matter came to light only after the employees reached at the jewellery shop to open it on the next day.
They said that another team of Kerala police had reached Katihar last month and arrested one Ashok Bari for alleged involvement in theft.
“It was on confessional statement of Bari that the police team led by a DSP rank officer reached Katihar once again on Sunday morning and nabbed Vikram with help of Katihar police,” a senior police officer said on condition of anonymity.
He said that Vikram also owns a jewellery shop in Katihar and it was on his indications, that around one kilogram of gold were stolen from the jewellery shop in Thrissur were recovered from his possession.
Katihar police sources said that further investigations were being done by the Kerala police team and local police were assisting them.
