Bihar Police seizes huge illegal arms, ammunition from Katihar

PATNA: The special task force of the Bihar Police seized three country-made pistols and around 300 live cartridges during a raid at a house in village Ratanpur under Manihari police station in Katihar district on Tuesday.
The STF has also arrested one Chandrika Kumar Yadav (35), the owner of the house in connection with the case.
The type of ammunitions seized are of .315 bore which are largely used by criminals and Maoists.

STF sources said that the ammunition were stored at the house couple of days back and the arrested person was being interrogated to ascertain that from where he had procured the ammunition and to whom he was selling them.
The raid comes a day after the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested two men and recovered 40 pistol components from their possession from platform number five at Kiul railway junction in Lakhisarai district on Monday night.
Kiul GRP SHO Ashok Kumar said that the arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Gulab Ansari (34) and Mohammad Rizwan Ansari (30), both natives of Champanagar village under Nathnagar police station in Bhagalpur district.

SHO Kumar said that the duo was nabbed soon after they alighted a general coach of down Balia-Howrah Express at the junction.
“The duo were carrying two backpacks which were very heavy. On suspicion, the GRP team asked them to stop but they tried to flee the spot. However, they were nabbed by the police personnel,” the SHO said.
He also said that the duo told police that partially-manufactured parts for pistols were brought for Mau in Uttar Pradesh and were to be delivered to a person in Munger in Bihar.
“General railway tickets from Mau to Balia and Balia to Kiul were also recovered from their possession. They were being paid Rs 4000 for one trip to carry parts of pistols from Mau to Munger. The duo also accepted that prior to Holi, they had also supplied another consignment of partially-manufactured firearms from Mau to Munger,” the SHO said.
