Fourth quarter

It is as if we have returned to the playground — very little defense, wild dunk attempts and errant alleys with no oops. Stratford leads 76-52 with 1:28 left. 

Third quarter

Jeremy Elston’s layup with less than four minutes  left are Tyner’s first points of the third quarter, snapping a 10-0 Stratford run that spanned more than three minutes. Spartans lead 57-32 ... Things gettinga little chippy here late in the third quarter. ... Opposing players were broken up by an official after some extracurricular activity, then, moments later, Tyner’s Kelsey Halfacre is assessed a technical. Oh, and Stratford is in front 61-32 ... Spartanslead 65-36 

Second quarter

Tyner's Solomon Bridgemon hits a shot in close for Tyner, but Stratford's Mike Wallace answers right back at the other end. ... Tyner has scored six unanswered but still trails 31-13. ... Stratford coach Romie Reed calls a timeout with 5:33 left in the first half. Rams, who trailed 31-14, are on a 7-0 run. ... Spartans beat the press and finish with an easy layup by Khendil Jones, snapping a 9-0 Tyner run. ... A Stratford steal turns into an easy Jawan Carpenter lay in at the other end, but Tyner's Javon Craddock answers with a trey at the other end, 40-24 (2:44 2Q). ... Huge putback by Jahari Reed just before the buzzer, and Stratford leads 47-30 at the half.

First quarter

Stratford scores the game's first two baskets (layups from Ivan Buford and Michael Wallace) in a span of 18 seconds to take a 4-0 edge with 7:17 left in the opening quarter. ... Juwan Carpenter adds a deep 3-pointer to stretch the Spartan's lead to 8-0 (5:26 1Q). ... Javon Craddock buries a triple for Tyner's first field goal, but Stratford's Jahari Reed converts a three-pointer play at the other end, 13-3 (4:48 1Q). ... Stratford has eclipsed the 20-point mark with still two minutes to play in the first quarter. The Spartans clearly came ready to play, 24-5 (1:07 1Q). ... Stratford, which shot 11 of 15 in the first quarter, leads 26-5 after one.

Class AA quarterfinal: Fulton 61, South Side 52

Fourth quarter

Fulton advances to the Class AA semifinals with a 61-52 win over South Side.

Fulton has its largest lead of the quarter 56-49 with one minute to play.

 

South Side's Quaylon Fuller 3 cuts Fulton's lead to 3 points (52-49)

Both teams have shot over 40 percent in this game.

Couple charges have hurt South Side. Fulton leads 48-44 with 3:08 to play Fulton now up 48-44

Fulton has scored four straight points to open the fourth quarter to take a 42-40 lead with six minutes to play.

Third quarter

After three quarters, South Side leads 40-38.

Bryce McBride has given South Side the lead on three-point play 40-38 with 57 seconds to play.

Travelle Turner three-point play and layup by Isiah Martin of South Side has cut Fulton's lead to one point (34-33).

Fulton is having its way in the lane. Falcons up 34-28 with 3:03 to play in 3rd.

South Side's Bryce McBride cuts Fulton's lead to four (26-22), but he is called for a technical foul.

Fulton opened the second half on a 9-0 run to a take an eight-point lead (25-17).

Second quarter

At halftime, South Side leads 17-16.

Fulton retakes the lead 16-15 with 2:15 remaining until halftime.

In last 2:10, South Side has zero points and three turnovers. SS still leads 15-14 with 3:16 until halftime

Fulton's Edward Lacy has a game-high 8 points, but South Side leads 15-12 with 5:15 left until halftime.

First quarter

Class AA quarterfinal: Livingston Academy 65, Alcoa 47

Class A quarterfinal: Loretto 70, Columbia Academy 69

Weathers hits a pair of free throws to put Loretto in front 52-51 with 6:32 left. Looks like this one's coming down to the wire. ... Carson Cary caps off the Columbia Academy break to give the Bulldogs a 56-52 edge. ... Ryan Weathers hits a corner 3-pointer to bring Loretto to within 47-55 with just over four minutes to play. Vanderbilt baseball signee can do more than pitch. ... Jacob Hallmark's mid-range jumper knots things up at 57-57 with under three to play. ... Will McBee hits another 3-pointer for Loretto, and the Mustangs lead 60-57, and Jacob Hallmark converts a difficult finish through traffic to make it 62-57 with 1:12 left. ... The Bulldogs aren't done yet as Eli Hyle cuts into their seven-point deficit with 55.1 seconds left, which is followed by Carson Cary's corner 3-pointer to cut it to 64-63. ... Will McBee hits two from the free-throw, stretching Loretto's lead to 66-63, and Cary hits the first of two at the other end, 66-64 (:18.5, 4Q). ... Two Ryan Weathers free throws just about do it. Eli Hyle hits a 3-pointer for Columbia Academy — the team's fourth — but Loretto's Ryan Weathers answers with his fourth triple of the game at the other end, 45-38 (6:02 3Q). ... Hyle hits another trey to bring the Bulldogs to with 45-43, and Carson Cary knocks down another to give Columbia Academy its first lead, 46-45 at the 3:20 mark. ... Both teams are making it rain here in the third quarter. Bulldogs and Mustangs shot a combined 7 of 11 from deep in the third quarter. 

Second quarter

Carson Cary's 3-pointer with 5:26 left brings Columbia Academy to within 23-20. ... Weathers knocks down his third triple of the contest to give Loretto a 26-20 edge, but a trey from Columbia Academy's Chase Butterfield narrows the deficit to 26-23. ... Teams are a combined 7-for-12 from 3-point range with just over two minutes left in the second quarter ... Kirkland Surratt with a pair of baskets in close in the final minute to spot Loretto a 35-33 halftime advantage. ... Teams shot a combined 28 of 48 (58.3 percent). 

First quarter

Loretto jumps out to a 16-5 lead behind an impressive 7-for-9 from Loretto, but Columbia Academy closes the gap to within 18-10 after one quarter. Vanderbilt baseball signee Ryan Weathers with a game-high five points for the Mustangs. 

Class A quarterfinal: Monterey 53, MASE 50

Fourth quarter

Monterey beats MASE 53-50 to reach Friday's state semifinals in Class A, holding Mr. Basketball finalist Arecko Gipson to 10 points in 31 minutes.

Monterey is 44 seconds from pulling off the first big upset of the boys state tournament. The Wildcats lead MASE 47-45.

Third quarter

Monterey leads 40-36 after three quarters. Gipson finally scored and has six points right now. Monterey right now is simply outplaying the Phoenix.

Second quarter

Monterey has kept Areko Gipson scoreless on 0 of 5 shooting. He has just three rebounds in the game.

Monterey leads MASE at halftime 27-16 behind Michael Cody's 10 points and three rebounds. MASES's Myhlan Davis has 10 points to lead the Phoenix.

First quarter

Monterey jumps out to a 13-8 lead. MASE is making its first trip to the TSSAA state tournament.

Monterey is making its first trip to the state tournament in 40 years.

Monterey held Mr. Basketball finalist Areko Gipson scoreless in the first quarter.
