Variety adventure departs Cobar to help children in need

The 2018 Variety 4WD Adventure kicked off in Cobar on Sunday morning with 30 crews departing bound for Tibooburra to raise funds for children in need.

If you thought it seemed a bit busier and noisier in town on Sunday morning than normal, then you’d be right as 30 vehicles on the 2018 Variety 4WD Adventure trouped out of Cobar headed for Tibooburra.

The group of 30 big hearted 4WD crews departed from Cobar on Sunday to travel through NSW, Queensland and South Australia to help Aussie kids in need.

The adventurers got to see the benefits of their fundraising first hand when they visited schools on their six-day journey to make donations to small and isolated schools to help Aussie kids get a fair go.

Stuart Telfer, Variety Bash’s Motoring Events Manager said all Aussie kids
deserve the right to have access to the joy of play.

He said donations made on the Variety 4WD Adventure will ensure the kids at the schools in Birdsville and Tibooburra can all enjoy this favourite childhood pastime.

Donations included a soft gym set and Lego for Birdsville State School for inside play when it is too hot to play outside and also basketball rings; and a zipline for the flying fox and an outdoor seating to ensure all the kids at Tibooburra Public School have access to a variety of play equipment.

The Variety 4WD Adventure is a six day, turn key adventure taking 4WD vehicles off the bitumen and onto bush tracks, sand dunes, fire trails and country dirt roads.

The adventurers overnighted at Cobar, Tibooburra, Innamincka, Birdsville, Marree, Wilpena Pound and Broken Hill.
