A young boy at risk of suicide is being flown to Australia over fears he will take his life if he remains at Nauru.

The Iranian boy, 10, will be sent to the country with his mother after a Federal Court judge ordered him to receive psychiatric treatment, SBS News reported.

The refugees have been living on the Australian-funded camp at Nauru after fleeing Iran in 2013.

The court heard the boy, who suffers from physical health problems, had a 'serious mental illness' and a 'significant present risk of suicide' which could not be 'treated at all' on the island.

Justice Nye Perram ordered the boy and his mother to be flown to Australia on the 'next plane out of Nauru' on March 7. 

The ten-year-old has already tried to kill himself three times, the publication reported.

However, Home Affairs minister Peter Dutton's lawyers said there were sufficient health care options for the boy on the island. 

The boy's father is currently in Australia at a Brisbane immigration centre after being treated for a brain injury.

Earlier in the year, a young girl tried to take her life at Nauru before being transferred to Australia for urgent psychiatric treatment.

Federal Court Judge Bernard Murphy ordered the girl to be flown to the country otherwise she would 'commit suicide or otherwise self harm, or that her mental health will self deteriorate'.

The young girl had been on Nauru since 2013, ABC News reported.
