Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins's Generation Game reboot officially has an air date.

The series, which will be presented by the former Great British Bake Off double act alongside Basil Brush, will premiere at 8pm on Easter Sunday, April 1 on BBC One.

The Generation Game first aired in 1971.

Hosted in the past by Sir Bruce Forsyth, Larry Grayson and Jim Davidson – who has since expressed his concerns about Mel and Sue as presenters – the show follows teams of two people from the same family, who compete to win prizes.

Basil himself appeared on the show back in1973, so we guess his addition makes sense, especially following his success on The Chase celebrity edition last year.

The first episode of the new-look Generation Game will air just before the opening instalment of the two-part Agatha Christie adaptation Ordeal by Innocence.

The drama's airdate was postponed following the removal of Ed Westwick from the project after rape allegations were made against the actor – claims which he strenuously denies.

The series will now star Christian Cooke as Mickey Argyll, and you can read what he has to say about the role right here.

Mel and Sue's Generation Game will premiere at 8pm on Sunday, April 1 on BBC One.
