Vijayawada: Woman falls off moving train, dies

A woman died after she fell off a moving train while attempting to open one of its doors near Ramavarappadu railway station on Wednesday.

VIJAYAWADA: A woman died after she fell off a moving train while attempting to open one of its doors near Ramavarappadu railway station on Wednesday.

The deceased, Muduluri Mamatha (35), was identified as a resident of Gudivada and was on her way to Vijayawada with her five-year-old daughter and relatives to attend a marriage in Ajit Singh Nagar. She boarded Vijayawada-Machilipatnam passenger train in Gudivada  at around 7 am and fell off the train near Ramavarappadu station while she was attempting to open the door. Mamatha was reportedly standing near the door of her train compartment.

On noticing that Mamatha had fallen off the train, relatives alerted railway officials and a rescue team brought her to Ramavarappadu railway station in Tirupathi- Puri Express.

“Mamatha succumbed to head injury on the way to the hospital,” said Government Railway police officials.
