Qatar- Ministry honours veteran drivers


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Ministry of the Interior (MoI) honoured veteran drivers at a ceremony yesterday in the presence of Public Security director general Major General Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi and a number of officials and officers of the ministry.
The annual celebration comes within the framework of the activities of the 34th Traffic Week, which started last Sunday under the title ‘Your Life is a Trust' and will continue until Saturday.
Director General of Traffic Brigadier Mohamed Saad al-Kharji, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Road Engineering and Safety director Brigadier Mohamed Abdul Rahim Marafih, called on the young drivers to follow the great leadership example of their parents.
He pointed out that adherence to traffic rules and etiquette is one of the most important pillars of traffic safety, which aims to preserve the lives and property, that is wasted by accidents.
He stressed the importance of concerted efforts by authorities, as well as private bodies and institutions, in order to spread traffic awareness and instil the foundations of commitment to the ethics and rules of traffic among the members of society, in order to protect all road users.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the veteran drivers, Dr Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Turki al-Subaie said that the honour gives a strong impetus to the new generations to contribute to reducing traffic accidents, the mortality rates, and
injuries.
The Public Security director general honoured the veteran drivers and handed them certificates and souvenirs. (QNA)
