In a heroic act, driver of a burning petrol tanker averted major tragedy after he veered off the vehicle away from the fuel station. As soon as the driver, Sajid, noticed that the tanker he was driving had caught fire, he swiftly drove it away and thereby saved many lives in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh.
The entire incident which was captured on video by a passer-by on his mobile phone, shows the tanker engulfed in blazing flames as panicked people ran for their safety.
However, the driver did not abandon the burning petrol tanker and instead drove the vehicle away from the gas station where several vehicles had queued up for fuel, according to reports in NDTV.
The driver who suffered burn injuries on his hands and is being treated at a local hospital in Narsinghpur said, "It would have been an inferno if the fire had spread to the storage area." The video also shows commotion on the road as motorists ran helter-skelter to take shelter from the blazing tanker. It is yet not clear how the fuel tanker caught fire.
