VIJAYAWADA: Police raided cockfight rings arranged in Musunuru village and arrested 10 punters on Sunday late hours. Two motorcycles, two cars and cash amounting to Rs 13,000 cash were seized in the raid.
Acting on a tip-off from sources, Musunuru police and Nuzvid formed teams and raided a mango field in Musunuru village where the offenders were caught red-handed organising cockfights and gambling.
It is reportedly believed that the arrested punters and organisers belong to Telugu Desam Party and cases under AP Gaming Act - 1974 were registered against TDP district vice president M Ramesh, TDP ST wing vice president Badru Naik and other leaders.
