Beekeepers Rhett Arceneaux, a second-grader in Stacey Hodges’ and Naomi Doll’s class, and his father, Shawn, visited Rollins Place Elementary to share their love and knowledge of bees.

Students learned beekeepers not only keep bees for honey but to help with pollination. They learned bees play an important role in crops and that it takes more than 1.6 million bee hives to pollinate the almond trees in California.

Students rotated through three stations as they tried on bee suits, saw a live beehive and located its queen, and sampled honey.
