Woods has stolen the show in the build up to the Masters as he makes his first appearance at Augusta since 2015.

The American icon is among the favourites to win once again and secure what would be his fifth Green Jacket.

But Mickelson has no intention of allowing his old adversary to steal his thunder and wants to do whatever it takes to take the title himself.

Woods and Mickelson practised together on Tuesday for the first time in two decades and took huge galleries with them around the back nine.

The duo could be seen laughing and joking as they teamed up to beat Freddie Couples and Thomas Pieters.

But when the Masters begins tomorrow morning the new found friendship will be put to one side and Mickelson, 47, insists he is all set to challenge for a fourth Green Jacket.

Mickelson, who secured his first PGA Tour win since 2013 in Mexico last month, would be the oldest champion in Masters history if he triumphed.

He said: "There were some difficult times and some difficult challenges, but I always believed I would overcome them.

"I knew that once I achieved that level and I finally did break through and win again, I'm going to peel off quite a few more.

"So I've just had the first one and it's time to peel off some more. I love this place and I'm excited to get going. I like my chances and I'm feeling confident."
