CHENNAI: Close on the heels of a state wide bandh and road and rail blockade, the Opposition parties in Tamil Nadu have decided to take out two rallies demanding formation of Cauvery Management Board and Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee.

The first rally will originate from Mukkombu in Tiruchy on April 7 while second one from Ariyalur on April 9. Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) president K Veeramani will inaugurate the rallies, DMK working president MK Stalin told reporters in Chennai on Friday after chairing a meeting of opposition parties.

Both the rallies will culminate on April 13 at Cuddalore where a grand public meeting will be held. Subsequently, the leaders would meet the Tamil Nadu Governor and submit a memorandum.

Stalin also announced that the opposition parties are going to stage a demonstration on April 16 in Chennai against the Supreme Court's recent order allegedly aimed at diluting SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

For a question on the demand made by a few organizations to halt IPL matches in Chennai, Stalin said he was not against holding the matches, yet the organisers must take a decision depending upon the situation.
