Washington Township High School students Lamar DiDomenico, Frank Wittje, Yahsym Gantt and Jalon Bell recently received the Challenge Coin Award, which was initiated by WTHS Student Resource Officers Tony Leone and Tom DiTullio.

The Challenge Coins represent several principles, recognizing students for positive citizenship and pride. The tokens are intended to connect police and students in a positive light.

One side of the Challenge Coin has an image of the police department's logo along with the values of Kindness, Duty, Honor, Courage, and Respect. The other side of the coin honors the bravery and dedication of Washington Township Police Corporal Steve Levy, who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave his life in the line of duty in October 1999.

Challenge Coins are awarded to students who represent the principles stated above as situations arise at school. Any WTHS staff member can recognize a student for this recognition. DiDomenico, Wittje, Gantt and Bell received the award by going above and beyond to assist a student in need, performing an Act of Kindness.
