BJP foundation day celebration: Party supporters from Beed create ruckus at BKC
MUMBAI: Irate BJP workers from Beed created a ruckus at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) during the BJP's foundation day celebration on Friday.
The party workers were angry that there was not a single hoarding or poster of Pramod Mahajan or Gopinath Munde both at the venue or on the stage. Aggrieved party members felt it was affront to the two leaders as both Mahajan and Munde were instrumental in building the party in Maharashtra from scratch.
"Munde and Mahajan expanded the party's presence in Maharashtra, but there were no photos anywhere at the venue.
This is insult of our beloved leader," said a party activist from Beed.
"The Munde-Mahajan duo should have figured along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president Amit Bhai Shah, state president Raosaheb Dance and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in posters. However, they were being ignored. We cannot tolerate and are upset over this treatment given to grassroots leaders," added party workers.
Party workers raised slogans in support of Munde. Realising that the situation could go out of hand, BJP MP Pritam, daughter of Gopinath Munde, left the dais and reached the mob to pacify the supporters.
She, however, could not speak to them as media surrounded her. "I wanted to talk to them, but couldn't, because media would run this news instead of the party function," Pritam said.
