Mild showers, winds bring cheer to coastal Andhra Pradesh

Parts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari and Srikakulam received mild showers and gusty winds bringing some respite from the heat on Sunday.

VIJAYAWADA: Parts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari and Srikakulam received mild showers and gusty winds bringing some respite from the heat on Sunday. The Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, issued a warning that thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds was likely to occur at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam districts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh and East Godavari district for the next two days.

Mandasa of Srikakulam, Kukunoor of West Godavari, Seethanagaram and Vepada and Gantyada of Vizianagaram districts received 3 cm rainfall each, Srungavarapukota and Parvathipuram of Vizianagaram, Palakonda of Srikakulam, Velairpad, Polavaram of West Godavari,  Kunavaram of East Godavari, Paderu of Vishakhapatnam district and Visakhapatnam city received 2 cm rainfall each on Sunday.

Sompeta, Araku Valley, Vararamachandrapuram, Kurupam, Garugubilli, Salur, Vizianagaram, Tekkali, Bheemunipatnam, Gajapathinagaram and Veeraghattam mandals received 1 cm rainfall each. Due to the presence of cumulonimbus clouds over the north coastal Andhra, in the next three days, there are chances of thunderstorms, winds and mild showers and lightning.

eathermen are predicting that the north coastal districts Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam will receive a maximum rainfall of about 4-5 cm and minimum rainfall of about 1-2 cm in East Godavari and Prakasam districts. Because of the clouds, day temperatures in north coastal Andhra dipped. Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts received around 2-3 cm of rainfall.
