Police book three Rangayana Kalaburagi artistes for misbehaviour

Three artistes of Rangayana Kalaburagi have been booked for misbehaving with female artistes and Rangayana Kalaburagi director under the influence of alcohol.

The suspects are Beeranna Malappa Pujari, Devindra Gurunath Badiger and Mohan Kumar Sharanappa Hulimani.

In his complaint, Rangayana director Mahesh V Patil said that the incident occurred on April 8 when the artistes were busy in a rehearsal.

The trio, who were drunk, came to the venue and misbehaved the artistes. They abused the artistes in foul language and threatened him when he intervened and asked them to behave properly, Patil added in the complaint.

The trio have been booked under the IPC 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 560 (criminal intimidation), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 34 (  acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

It is not the first time that police have booked Rangayana Kalaburagi artistes.
A case was registered on February 9, 2016, against artiste Lakshmi Karoji and her husband. The couple was accused of hiring goons for attacking a Dalit artiste Mahesh Kumar.

The police arrested her after the complaint.

A case was registered against the then Rangayana Kalaburagi director Prof R K Hudagi and an artist under Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 on February 11, 2016.

The director had obtained anticipatory bail in the case.
