The main thoroughfares in the town were bathed in red for half-an-hour on Tuesday as scores of CPI (M) activists marched on them carrying a 1,111-foot red flag drumming up public support for 22nd party congress scheduled to be held in Hyderabad from April 18 to 22. Hundreds volunteers from various parts of the district took part in the rally.

Earlier in the day, party State secretariat member P. Sudarshan Rao flagged off the rally at Pavilion Grounds here. He rode a motorbike adorned with 22 party flags prior to the beginning of the rally.

Party district secretary N. Nageswara Rao, secretariat member E. Srikanth, two-town committee secretary Y. Vikram and others took part in the rally.
