Actor-producer Vijay Babu of Friday Film House on Thursday took to Facebook to announce that the sequel to the 1990 super hit Kottayam Kunjachan will be made with Mammooty at the helm. The post read, “All differences of opinion about the copyright and other issues in connection with Kottayam Kunjachan 2 have been solved through discussions.”
The sequel was announced earlier and later withdrawn after copyright issues about the title rose. “As mentioned earlier, Kottayam Kunjachan 2 will be released,” he says, adding that megastar Mammootty will be reprising his titular role.
Vijay Babu thanked the crew of Kottayam Kunjachan and all those people who excitedly supported the project on its announcement. He also thanked the trolls for staying active during the title controversy.
