London workers claim they are “too tired” to exercise during the working week, according to a survey.

Tiredness is the top reason why Londoners don’t work out from Monday to Friday, with 60 per cent saying this.

Almost half (45 per cent) say the cost of a gym prevents them, while 54 per cent say they would exercise more if they had flexible hours. The study by communications company Powwownow found a quarter of Londoners do not exercise at all during the week, compared with 35 per cent across the UK.

The research also found exercise levels would improve if facilities were provided at work or subsidised, but three-quarters of office workers do not have this.

Jason Downes, MD of Powwownow, said: “Workers are getting nowhere near the amount of exercise they need.”
