A recent New York Times article calls Victoria an urban jewel and one of the world’s top small urban destinations.

Published on Thursday, the story titled “36 Hours in Victoria, British Columbia” covers some iconic scenes in the city, such as walking the inner harbor, visiting the Royal B.C. Museum and checking out Canada’s oldest Chinatown.

A visit to Munro’s Books, Bastion Square and Emily Carr House are also hailed as great stops.

The story goes on to call Beacon Hill an oasis to Victoria like what Central Park is to New York City.

Another article by the news agency talks about What to Pack for a Trip to Victoria, warning to bring a jacket for the frequent rain and sunscreen for the “often sunny” city.

All of this described as “Set amid the breathtaking beauty and bounty of Vancouver Island.”

The article is the latest in the New York Times’ 36 hours series, said to be a one-stop resource for our travel guides that can tell readers what they can do when they only have 36 hours to get to know a city.
