Model poll code violated in Kalaburagi, 186 FIRs filed

KALABURAGI: Since model poll code came into force in Kalaburagi district, 186 FIRs have been filed in different police stations of Kalaburagi district with regard to violation of code, said nodal officer of implementation of model code of conduct for elections, Shivashankar, who is also district forest officer, on Monday.

Shivashankar told Express that in total, 180 FIRs were filed for violation of excise law (107 FIRs by Excise Ddepartment, 70 FIRs by police and 3 FIRs by flying squad), 5 FIRs were filed for violation of model code of conduct and one FIR was filed for possession of unaccounted cash (sales tax personnel seized cash of Rs. 17.74 lakh near Hiroli check-post of Aland Taluk.)

Total cash of Rs 25.82 lakh was seized in different places of the district. Rs 17.74 lakh was seized near Hiroli of Aland taluk by sales tax personnel, Rs 3 lakh near Ballurgi of Afzalpur by sales tax personnel, Rs 2.08 lakh in Gulbarga-rural and Rs 3.009 lakh near Tumakunta village of Chincholi taluk.

Shivashankar said that 2238 litres of liquor worth Rs 6,25,651 was seized in raids conducted by MCC teams conducted till Monday. Apart from this, 27 two-wheelers, three three-wheelers and one 4 wheeler were seized.
