HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad HC has directed the state of Telangana to produce, within a week, the entire record and note file pertaining to the site selection for constructing an integrated complex for the Suryapet collectorate and SP office along with the GO issued for the purpose.
The bench of acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K Vijaya Lakshmi gave this direction while hearing a public interest petition filed by Chakilam Rajeswar Rao of Suryapet, who charged the authorities with taking decisions at the behest of energy minister Jagadiswar Reddy.

Appearing for the petitioner, senior counsel L Ravichander told HC that the new proposed site is 10 km away from Suryapet town. He also said that all along the revenue department authorities were recommending Kesaram, where plenty of government land is available, for the collectorate complex and had even entrusted the work to the Roads & Buildings department.
But later, probably at the behest of local minister, they started showing interest in private land at Survey No 301, 302 & 303 of Kudakuda village and Survey No 29 of Begigudem village of Suryapet and decided to house the complex there with the intent of profiting a private real estate firm, M/s Sri Sai Developers, the senior counsel said.
This firm allegedly belongs to the kin of Suryapet municipal chairman, who purchased nearly 50 acres in and around the proposed new site, the petitioner alleged. The state then issued GO 230 enabling Suryapet district collector to purchase private land for the purpose after which real estate prices there shot up, the petitioner said, pointing out that some of it was assigned land given to poor farmers long ago.
Additional advocate general J Ramachandra Rao told the Bench the petitioner is a Congress leader and had filed the plea due to political motives. Though he is now stating government land would be better for the complex, he objected to the state’s initial proposal do so, he said. The case is slated to come up for further hearing next week.
