Chris Erskine was crowned Partick Thistle's player of the Year last night - just days after insisting he would be EMBARRASSED to win the prize.
The Jags are toiling at the bottom end of the Scottish Premiership with seven wins from 34 games and on Saturday they moved off the foot of the table with a 2-1 win over Hamilton Accies.
But before that vital victory Erskine posted that the club should bin their awards due to their poor displays.
The vote for the Player of the Year award was conducted online and last Wednesday, the midfielder took to his Twitter page, posting: “Genuinely embarrassed to be nominated for this. With the season we’ve had, POTY for the first team should be scrapped.”

Erskine, from Lindsayfield, later went on to urge fans not to vote for him but he drew praise for his honesty and ended up winning the public vote on Sunday.
Over 5,600 users took part on Twitter and Erskine won with 71 per cent of the vote, followed by striker Connor Sammon on 14 per cent, goalkeeper Tomáš Černý on nine per cent and midfielder Blair Spittal on six per cent.

Erskine has made 32 appearances for the Jags this season, scoring 6 goals, and his side's bid to avoid relegation continues this weekend when they visit St Johnstone on Saturday.
