Former MLA of Nellore Anam Vivekananda Reddy dies aged 67

He was ailing for the past one year and his condition had deteriorated in the last two months

Former MLA and senior leader Anam Vivekananda Reddy passed away aged 67 following a prolonged illness, at a super speciality hospital in Hyderabad on Wednesday morning.

 

Hailing from a long-standing political family, he served in different capacities, including the post of Nellore municipal chairman. He got elected as MLA for the first time in 1999 and thereafter in 2004 and 2009.

 

In the 2014 elections, Vivekananda Reddy did not contest elections but his elder son Anam Chenchu Subba Reddy contested unsuccessfully from Nellore Town assembly segment on a Congress ticket.

 

In the post-bifurcation AP politics, Vivekananda Reddy, along with his brother and former minister Ramanarayana Redd,y left the Congress and joined the ruling Telugu Desam Party.
