Video showing youths disrobing Jehanabad minor girl goes viral

PATNA: Patna zonal IG Nayyar Hasnain Khan on Sunday formed a special investigation team to probe an unverified video purportedly showing a group of eight youths assaulting, dragging and disrobing a minor girl in Jehanabad. The video has gone viral on social media.
After the intervention of the state cybercrime branch, the video was removed from social media but was still available on instant messaging platforms.
An FIR has been lodged against unknown persons with the Town police station in Jehanabad on the basis of the registration number of a motorcycle which is visible in the video. Jehanabad SP Maneesh will lead SIT. The IG has asked the police to arrest the youths whose faces are visible in the video.
SHO of Town police station S K Singh said the FIR was lodged on the basis of a written complaint filed by sub-inspector Shyam Sundar Singh. “The FIR has been lodged under Section 376 (rape) and 511 (punishment for offences punishable with life or other imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 8 (sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012,” he said, adding faces of seven youths were visible in the video. “One of the youths could be seen holding the girl. However, he was not resisting the attempts of the youths to assault the girl,” the SHO said.
The SP said the cybercrime cell’s help had been sought to ascertain the identity of the youths.
