Lightning kills 13 in West Bengal

Kolkata: At least 13 persons were killed and over 25 injured after lightning struck them during a nor’wester that hit different parts of West Bengal on Sunday night, a senior official of the state disaster management said on Monday.



Kolkata: At least 13 persons were killed and over 25 injured after lightning struck them during a nor’wester that hit different parts of West Bengal on Sunday night, a senior official of the state disaster management said on Monday. Of the 13, three each died in Nadia, Murshidabad and North 24 Parganas districts, while two each died in Dakshin Dinajpur and Malda. “Most of them were outside their houses or working in their fields when lightning struck,” he said. Among the four persons injured due to lightning in Purulia district, two were reported to be critical, the official said. PTI
