Teen falls to death from Shahdara flyover

Appears to be a case of suicide: police

A 14-year-old allegedly died after falling from Shahdara flyover in east Delhi on Wednesday evening, the police said on Thursday.

Luv Sharma, a student of Class IX in Shahdara, lived lived with his parents in east Delhi’s Mansarovar Park.

“An eyewitnesses who called the police said a boy had jumped from the flyover. It appears to be a suicide case but we are waiting for his family to confirm whether they suspect any foul play,” said the police.

The family told the police that Luv left home soon after returning from school on Wednesday. He returned a few hours later, only to leave on his bicycle once again around 7 p.m. The police received a call regarding the incident at 8.15 p.m. Luv was taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

“His headphones, mobile phone, wallet and wristwatch were found at the spot. No suicide note was found,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad.

Low score

“We spoke to the school authorities. They said he recently cleared the exam with a low score. We will speak to his parents and friends to determine the reason for suicide. We are waiting for the autopsy report,” she said.
