Jehanabad viral video: Minor among 2 more arrested

The special investigation team (SIT) formed in the Jehanabad viral video case arrested two more accused on Friday night who were among youths allegedly involved in disrobing and sexually assaulting a minor girl.

PATNA: The special investigation team (SIT) formed in the Jehanabad viral video case on Friday night arrested two more accused who were among youths allegedly involved in disrobing and sexually assaulting a minor girl.
While one of the arrested youths is Arvind Kumar (22), a native of Khalispur, another is a 15-year-old minor, a native of Bharathua village, where the incident took place on April 25. Both the villages are located under Kako police station area.
When asked, Patna zonal IG Nayyar Hasnain Khan told TOI on Saturday that with the arrest of two youths on Friday, all 13 accused involved in the incident were nabbed.

The video went viral on the morning of April 29 in with several youths were seen dragging a girl after holding her limbs and disrobing her after which she was sexually assaulted. An FIR was lodged against unknown with the Town police station area within a couple of hours on the basis of a written complaint of sub-inspector Shyam Sundar Singh.
“Arvind was the one who had brought the girl to a secluded place at Bharathua with wrong intentions and he has admitted this in his statement to police,” IG Khan said, adding the 13 arrested include all those visible in video and those recording it.
“I went to Jehanabad on Friday and reviewed the case along with DIG (Magadh range) Vinay Kumar, Jehanabad SP Maneesh and other official involved in the case. The SIT has been instructed to submit chargesheet against the accused in the case before the end of this month,” the IG said.

He said that law officers have also been included in the SIT now so that they can assist police to prepare strong chargesheet against all the 13 accused.
Jehanabad SP Maneesh said that out of all the 13 arrested accused, eight were minors while the rest five are adults.
“Altogether two cellphones, suspected to be used in crime for recording video, have been seized from two different accused out of the 13 and they would be sent to forensic science laboratory in Patna,” he said.
Prior to Friday’s arresting, Amar Kumar (20), Deepak Kumar (18), Sunil Kumar (19) and a minor were arrested on Monday while four more minors were arrested on Tuesday. Three, including two minors and one Nawasa Paswan (27), were arrested on Wednesday. All the accused were natives of different villages under Kako police station area.
