DEERWOOD-The Deerwood Lakes Lions will have its annual Mother's Day Tea noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Cascade Methodist Church between Deerwood and Crosby.

There will be food, door prizes, raffles and entertainment. Reservations are needed.

Fishing opener at Backus Legion

BACKUS-Opening weekend of fishing activities at the Backus American Legion includes a Mother's Day breakfast.

Sunday, May 13, is the Auxiliary's annual Mother's Day breakfast from 7:30-11:30 a.m.

Cost: $7 for adults and $4 for kids under 7. Mothers receive a free plant.

Pinetree Patchworkers Quilt Guild to meet

BAXTER-The Pinetree Patchworkers Quilt guild will meet 6:30 p.m. May 14 at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter.

Gudron Erla will be the guest at the meeting. She is from Iceland and will be doing a trunk show on her creations. Her quilt patterns can be found by googling GE Design.

Sleep apnea support group planned

STAPLES-Lakewood Health System's Medical Marketplace will be hosting a sleep apnea support group from 2-3:30 p.m. May 17 in Classroom A on the Lower Level at Lakewood's Main Campus, 49725 County Road 83, Staples.

Part of the nationally recognized sleep apnea program called AWAKE, which stands for Alert, Well And Keeping Energetic, and was created on behalf of the American Sleep Apnea Association, this meeting will focus on the relationship between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and sleep apnea, referred to as Overlap Syndrome.

Garage sale to benefit Wild and Free Wildlife Rehabilitation Program

GARRISON-There will be a garage sale to benefit the Wild and Free Wildlife Rehabilitation Program from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 10, and Friday, May 11, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Garrison VFW.

Items include household, furniture, collectibles, tools, toys, plants, craft, sewing and pet supplies, bake sale, books and more.

Tax-deductible donations still accepted. Drop off or call Garrison Animal Hospital at 320-692-4180.

No clothes, TVs, computers, electronics or large appliances will be accepted.
