HYDERABAD: A
cobra that was rescued after it was almost killed by locals at a farmer's house in Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari, underwent a surgery recently and received eight
stitches.
Veterinary doctors operated on the
spinal cord of the injured snake and saved it from certain death.
The cobra was spotted at Brahmananda Rao's house in Ramachandrapuram village of Jangareddygudem.
The residents called up the
Snake Saviours Society asking them to rescue the reptile. Meanwhile, some locals, afraid of the cobra, began hitting it with stones, badly injuring it.
Upon reaching the spot, Chadalawada Kranthi, president of the society, took the snake to a nearby veterinary hospital. After operating on the reptile, veterinary doctors said they were hopeful it will survive.
The Snake Saviours Society works in close coordination with the Forest and Wildlife Department for the rescue of wildlife.
