Karnataka assembly election 2018 LIVE updates: Voting is underway in 222 constituencies and a turnout of 56 percent has been recorded till 3 pm. Technical glitches in electronic voting machines (EVMs) delayed polling at several places in Bengaluru.

Karnataka election 2018: Voting has ended in 222 constituencies. The polling began as early as 7 AM this morning and people across the state were seen outside poll booths. In a shocking incident, BJP and Congress workers were allegedly caught distributing cash for votes outside Nalini Raghunatha Rao degree college polling booth in South Bangalore as per India Today. Report said, while Congress workers distributed Rs 600, BJP was handing out Rs 500 notes to voters. The Congress party workers first inspected people’s voters IDs and then were given money.

Technical glitches in electronic voting machines (EVMs) delayed polling at several places in Bengaluru. According to state electoral authorities, the highest 31 percent voting was recorded in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts respectively at 11 am while Bengaluru urban recorded the lowest at 17 percent. Karnataka Election results will be declared on May 15.

8:20 AM: For the first time in Karnataka, one all women-managed polling station (Sakhi) has been set up in all rural assembly constituencies and five in each urban constituency (totalling 600 polling stations).

6:30 AM: Preparations begin for Karnataka Assembly Elections in Mangaluru.

Karnataka has over the 5.06-crore electorate, including 2.56 crore men, 2.5 crore women and over 5,000 in third gender category. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged voters in Karnataka to come out in large number to cast their vote. Some disruption in polling booths were recorded in Dasarahalli and Hebbal. EVM disruptions were also recorded.
