Karnataka election 2018: Voting has ended in 222 constituencies. The polling began as early as 7 AM this morning and people across the state were seen outside poll booths. In a shocking incident, BJP and Congress workers were allegedly caught distributing cash for votes outside Nalini Raghunatha Rao degree college polling booth in South Bangalore as per India Today. Report said, while Congress workers distributed Rs 600, BJP was handing out Rs 500 notes to voters. The Congress party workers first inspected people’s voters IDs and then were given money.
Technical glitches in electronic voting machines (EVMs) delayed polling at several places in Bengaluru. According to state electoral authorities, the highest 31 percent voting was recorded in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts respectively at 11 am while Bengaluru urban recorded the lowest at 17 percent. Karnataka Election results will be declared on May 15.

8:56 AM: Denizens of Bengaluru were seen lined up outside polling booths from 6.30 a.m. to beat the rush in casting their ballots as voting began at 7 a.m.
8:54 AM: 645 contestants (24 percent) have criminal cases registered against them. 25 per cent seats have been declared red alert constituencies. Hence, 56 assembly constituencies wherein three or more candidates with declared criminal cases are contesting in the Karnataka election.
8:52 AM: Of the 2,564 candidates analysed, about 883 (34 percent) are crorepati candidates. Congress has 207 (94 percent) crorepati candidates, while the BJP has 208 (93 percent) millionaire contestants, Janata Dal (United) also has 54 (77 percent) crorepati contestants.
