Polling was by and large very peaceful
MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada district recorded 77.63% polling on Saturday.
Polling was by and large very peaceful in Mangaluru, Bantwal and Mangaluru City North and other constituencies that no untoward incidents reported.
Polling at various booths in the city and its periphery were was very brisk from morning itself. Polling stations in Mangaluru, Mangaluru City North and Bantwal constituencies witnessed long queues in the first half of the polling hours.

A polling station at DK ZP High School, Ombathukere in Mangaluru constituency witnessed 28% polling by 10.30am.
In the constituency, a Pink Polling Station in Mogaveerpatna of Ullal recorded 19.90% polling by 11am. Meanwhile, another booth in Ullal in the constituency recorded 50% polling by 11.40am.
Two polling stations at Subhash Nagar, Sajipamuda in Bantwal constituency recorded 57% polling by 12 noon. Most of the polling stations in Bantwal, home town of district minister B Ramanath Rai, in Bantwal constituency have recorded more than 60% polling by 12.45pm. Three polling booths in Sri Venkatramana Swami Temple Aided High School in Bhandaribettu of Bantwal constituency recorded 60% polling before 12.45pm.
In Mangaluru City North, the polling station in Central Model Residential School had touched 65% polling by 3.30pm. Similarly, a polling booth at Government High School in Meenakalya recoreded 67% polling by 4pm.
Rapid Action Force personnel were deployed at three Polling Stations at Subhash Nagar, Sajipamuda in Mangaluru constituency to prevent untoward incidents in the wake of recent poll related crimes.
