BSP leader shot dead in Buxar, son injured

Two unidentified armed assailants shot dead a BSP leader Khutti Yadav (45) and injured his son Yashwant Kumar (25) at Itari railway crossing under Town police station area in Buxar at around 9.30pm on Friday.

PATNA: Two unidentified armed assailants shot dead a BSP leader and injured his son at Itari railway crossing under Town police station area in Buxar at around 9.30pm on Friday.
Town police station SHO Awanish Kumar said the father-son duo - Khutti Yadav (45) Yashwant Kumar (25) - were returning home located at Lalganj village under Mufassil police station area in a SUV after closing their medical shop located at Buxar roundabout under Town police area when the incident took place.
He said the deceased was a former mukhiya of Nadaon panchayat which is also under Mufassil police station area.
“As soon as they reached near the crossing, the SUV stopped as a train was passing through,” the SHO said, adding, Yashwant was on the wheels while the leader was sitting beside him.
He said an unidentified youth reached near the SUV and knocked on the window on SUV where the former mukhiya was sitting.
“As soon as Yadav slid the window pane down, the youth said pranaam muhiya ji and opened fire two rounds on him from a very close range,” SHO Kumar said.
He said one bullet hit Yadav in head while other in neck. “The bullet which pierced through Yadav’s head, hit his son’s arm,” the SHO said, adding, both were rushed to sadar hospital where Yadav was declared brought dead.
He said two licensed rifles were also kept in SUV, but none got chance to use it. “Another youth was also with the shooter. Both fled on feet by crossing the railway tracks taking advantage of the darkness,” he said, adding, Yashwant was referred to Varanasi for further treatment.
Buxar SP Rakesh Kumar said property dispute is the prime reason behind the killing. “Police was sent to Varanasi to record statement of Yadav’s son on basis of which an FIR would be lodged. Post-mortem was conducted on Friday night,” he said. He also said Yadav’s supporters created ruckus in front of sadar hospital till midnight but returned after they were pacified.
