Waste Management hosts free hazardous waste collection day in Sparks on May 19

SPARKS, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Spring cleaning means it's time to safely rid your home of old computer peripherals, paints and chemicals, medicine and more.

Waste Management is providing a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, May 19 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at their recycling center on East Greg Street in Sparks.

The following items will be accepted:

• televisions
• computer monitors
• laptops and computer processing units
• printers
• fluorescent lamps and bulbs
• VCRs
• mercury thermometers
• cell phones, telephones and answering machines
• batteries (all types)
• microwave ovens
• paintings and coatings
• radios and stereos
• solvents, glues, and chemicals
• prescriptions medicines and medical sharps
• pool chemicals
• used oil and filters and automotive fluids
• household cleaners
• pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers

The first 50 pounds are free for residential customers with accounts in good standing.
