One woman has been admitted to Thrissur Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) with suspected symptoms of Nipah virus infection. The woman hails from Changaramkulam in Malappuram district.

The blood and fluid samples collected from the woman have been sent for laboratory tests at the Manipal virology lab, according to hospital sources.

The woman approached the primary health centre in her locality with fever four days ago. As the fever did not subside, she sought treatment at the MCH. As the symptoms were similar to that of Nipah virus infection, she was shifted to the isolation ward at the MCH.
