NEW DELHI: The municipal corporations continued with their anti-encroachment drive on Thursday, on directions of the special task force constituted by the Supreme Court.
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation carried out encroachment removal drive across its four zones. "Anti-encroachment drive was undertaken at DDA Flats, Kalkaji, and Mohan Singh Market, RK Puram, in south zone. During this, 50 articles and five rehris were seized and six temporary structures and 33 tharas were demolished.
In central zone, action was taken from Govindpuri metro station to Majidia Hospital on Ravi Dass Marg wherein 40 tripals, 20 extensions were demolished and 30 items, four rehris and five vehicles were seized," said a senior SDMC official.
In west zone, the drive was undertaken from Uttam Nagar terminal traffic light to Dwarka Mor and Tilak Nagar main market. “During this, 52 vehicles, including 12 four wheelers, have been seized. Nineteen permanent structures and 25 semi-structures were also demolished,” said the official.
The north corporation carried out the drive in areas including Maharaja Agrasain Marg, Shalimar Bagh, Kashmiri Gate, Bara Bazar, Church Road to Kashmiri Gate Metro Station and its surrounding, Singhara Chowk, Qutub Road, Pan Mandi and its surrounding, Punjabi Bagh traffic light to Kirti Nagar Metro station. "Twenty vehicles were impounded, 52 articles like tin sheds, wooden tables, stools etc. were seized by the department during the drive,"said an official.
Meanwhile, during the drive under the east corporation, 25 health trade licences of various eateries were cancelled and 12 tandoors were broken at Shahdara.
