FREMANTLE stunner Lily Hutchinson is striking another blow for diversity in the fashion industry.

Standing at 170cm — that’s 5 feet 6 inches — the 18-year-old is considered short by standards in the modelling world.

Until now the blue-eyed beauty has never set foot on a catwalk, despite appearing in Vogue Australia, Russh and Elle Australia.

In another sign of fashion becoming more inclusive, the petite rising star can today be revealed as the face of the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival.

“Photos can be deceiving, but I’m no Amazonian supermodel,” Hutchinson said.

“I’ve never walked a runway mainly because I am a bit short but I’d love to give it a go and have been practising by walking up and down the hallway at home.”

Hutchinson, who describes WA model and international catwalk queen Jess Picton-Warlow as her model mentor, was shocked to hear she’d been chosen to front this year’s festival.

“I’m over the moon with excitement to be this year’s face,” she said. “I feel very grateful as I get to represent Perth and the amazing talent that we have in this industry. Even though we are so isolated we are bursting with imagination in the arts industry.”

Festival founder Mariella Harvey- Hanrahan described Hutchinson as “the hottest new face”.

“She’s young, edgy and current, while being so natural, and she represents everything I love about the WA fashion industry,” she said.
