AGRA: Thunderstorm lashed Agra and its adjoining districts late on Friday night, triggering panic among local residents who had suffered major losses due to the nature’s fury last month. While no casualties or injuries were reported from Agra, at least seven people got hurt in two separate incidents of wall collapse in Kasganj district. The injured were immediately rushed to the government hospital for treatment.
According to Kasganj district administration, incidents of wall collapse were reported from Sailai village in Baddu Nagar and Bhidauni village under Soro police station. In Sailai village, the injured were identified as Ram Prasad, his wife Gauri Devi, daughters Bhawana, Bhuri and son Yogesh. Officials said that Bhawana, 9, was said to be critical and so she was referred to Aligarh government hospital for further treatment.
In Bhidauni village, Maqdum Khan and his wife Feroz were among those injured. Similarly, in Bhidauni village, Satish Chandra, Munish and Munne Khan were trapped under the debris of their collapsed wall, but they sustained only minor bruises. Soon after the incident, sub-divisional magistrate Devendar Pratap visited the two villages to take a stalk of the situation.
According to Indian Air Force’s Kherai airbase meteorological department, gusty wind hit Agra and its neighbouring districts at 11pm on Friday. The storm lasted only for half hour. The maximum wind velocity was recorded at 64.82 km/h.
While several trees were uprooted and makeshift structures were damaged, no casualties were reported from the region this time around.
