JJ Hospital dean transferred to Kolhapur
Sir JJ Group of Hospitals
MUMBAI: The state medical education department issued transfer orders for the deans of four medical colleges late on Tuesday.
Dr S Nanandkar, who headed the Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, has been transferred to Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Government Medical College in Kolhapur. “The new dean of JJ Hospital will be Dr Ajay Chandanwale, who headed B J Medical College in Pune,” said DMER chief Dr Pravin Shingare. Dr Chandanwale, who was orthopaedics department head at JJ Hospital until seven years back, has earned kudos for the ‘transformation’ of B J Medical College.
In the last four years, he has managed to raise Rs 85 crore through CSR funds to upgrade various departments and provide nutritious food for free to patients.
A state official said Dr Nanandkar’s transfer follows the strike by resident doctors last fortnight. “There were complaints with regards to the security system,” said the official. Dr Nanandkar said he yet to receive the order, Dr Chandanwale said he would wait for further government orders.
The government medical colleges at Nagpur and Dhule too got new deans.
