THRISSUR: The district administration has rejected a petition filed against actor Dileep in connection with allegations of encroachment regarding D-Cinemaas, the multiplex he owns in Chalakkudy. A Kowsigan disposed of the petition before relinquishing office as the Thrissur Collector on Wednesday.
K C Santhosh had filed the petition in 2017 seeking a probe into the alleged land encroachments of D-Cinemaas.

As per the petition, the 82-cent plot with survey number 680/1 of D-Cinemaas was actually the property of the Cochin royal family and was passed over to Valiyakoyil Thampuran. The petition also alleged 35 cents under survey number 681/1 was a ‘Purambokku’ land, and though it had been recorded as having received ‘pattayam’ in 1922, there was no official document to prove it. Kowsigan had appointed a team of officers under Land Survey Deputy Collector to investigate the matter.

As per their report, the total area under survey number 680/1 is 1.82 acres and there was no evidence to prove it belonged to the royal family. The report also substantiated the Palace Administration Board at Tripunithura, that manages the royal family assets and documents, did not possess any ‘possession document’ for the land. It was also found the 35-cent plot had been a ‘pattayam’ land registered in 1922.
Kowsigan thus rejected the petition.

Santhosh said he will file a review petition. “I haven’t received the order yet. Once I do, I will definitely go for a review petition as the documents to prove Cochin royal family’s possession is with the Cochin Devaswom Board,” he said.
