13-year-old boy kills self while enacting suicide shown on TV

A 13-year-old boy allegedly accidentally hung himself from ceiling fan in Narsingh Pur village while imitating a suicide being shown on TV.

The child allegedly dragged a twenty litre water bottle lying in home and then stood on it and hung himself with fan.

The boy according to the parents was addicted to TV and would often enact what he saw.

They had even consulted a doctor about the habit but he had asked them to wait till he turns 19 and grows mature.

According to police, Binaula resident Narayan Singh and his wife Geeta live in Narsinghpur on rent and work in a nearby factory.

It was late evening today when they returned from work and found their son hanging from the ceiling fan while a movie was being played on TV.

They immediately raised an alarm and neighbors came there and police was called.

“He was addicted to TV and would often enact stunts and mischief shown on TV. We would try to counsel him many times but he would not listen. It was his summer vacation and he used to stay at home entire day. We had left him sitting on chair watching TV. We had asked him to turn it off as it would harm his eyes but never thought it would take his life,” said his wailing mother.

The local police got post-mortem done and handed the body to the family that denied any possibility of suicide.

“He was very mischievous but a happy go lucky child. He would enact stunts around the house inspired by TV.  We used to be worried that he would injure himself one day and even consulted a doctor but he said he will grow wise soon. We have never thought that he would die like this one day. We are in utter shock,” added his father.
